is a native southern Californian from Redlands, an area rich in Craftsman homes. Her interest in textiles began at an early age, when she would frequent her grandparent’s upholstery shop, and leave with arms full of remnants. With the aid of an embroidery kit, she taught herself to embroider at the age of 10. She went on to receive a degree in Fine Arts, but it wasn’t until several years later that she discovered an interest in the Arts & Crafts style, and became interested in textiles from the period. Research on design principles from books of the period assisted in the creation of a runner that she auctioned. Upon receiving the runner, the successful bidder commissioned Richards to create curtains for a Craftsman home in Pasadena, California; and the rest they say, is history.
